The last 10 songs I listened to, that comes from last.fm a free music service that tracks the music you play and is able to do many things.  It has an online radio portion to it that many people swear by, even over Pandora.  However, my favorite part is that by tracking your songs it is able to give you recommendations based on what other people listening to the same music also like. Twitter Chess? Fail.

by Jon on May.08, 2009, under Uncategorized

Since twitter is able to make use of utf-8 characters, and since utf-8 contains characters for all of the standard chess peices, and since and 8×8 board is only 64 characters, why couldn’t you play chess via twitter?  Well guess what, you can!

♜    ♞    ♝    ♛    ♚    ♝    ♞    ♜
♟    ♟    ♟    ♟    ♟    ♟    ♟    ♟
|      |      |      |      |      |      |
|      |      |      |      |      |      |
|      |      |      |      |      |      |
|      |      |      |      |      |      |
♙    ♙    ♙    ♙    ♙    ♙    ♙    ♙
♖    ♘    ♗    ♕    ♔    ♗    ♘    ♖

copy and paste into a new tweet, put a tab between each character, make your first move, and @reply it to a friend to play.  I couldn’t figure out how to keep the tabs, wordpress converted them all to multiple spaces.

but apparently twitter doesn’t like new lines as much as tweetie hopes it would…

I’m back!

by Jon on Mar.22, 2009, under Uncategorized

Back from Mexico and I have a post spring break resolution to blog more.  Things to come include a couple awesome youtube video’s I’ve seen in the last couple of weeks. A song that I’ve been listening to nonstop for the past month.  A review of the resort I stayed at and maybe some other blog posts about my adventures in Mexico.  Some more cooking hopefully.  Eventually I’d like to get some writing and pictures up of some projects I’ve been working on.  Yea that’s about it, I’d post a picture to show off my awesome tan lines, but my giant puffy infected eye is not pretty.

Finally something useful

by Jon on Feb.13, 2009, under Uncategorized

I can finally do something useful with my homemade lasers!  Although I should probably do some tests with chicken, or schnitzel like in the video before I try any sort of human or live animal testing…  [Gizmodo]

OMG Arby’s pizza may have to go on hold

by Jon on Feb.10, 2009, under Uncategorized

So after making my “Heart Attack Cheeseburger Pizza” I’ve been thinking of what to make next.  Up until today I’d been set on the Arby’s pizza, roast beef, curly fries, arby’s sauce, etc.  But then I came across this site and the Arby’s pizza may have to go on hold until after I make everything on it, except for the deep fried mar’s bar, that’s just gross.
