Music and the Law
by Jon on May.03, 2009, under Dreams, Music
A couple of weeks ago I was working in the yard midafternoon right as the busses start coming to drop the kids off. Just as my sister’s bus was coming to a stop, red lights flashing, stop arm extened, a kid nearly drove past it and the bus driver layed on the horn. The kid stopped, bus driver was pissed, and from out of the kid’s window I heard Nuetral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1. I started thinking to myself, had he gone past the bus, and the cops been called, as a witness I probably would have lied in his favor, just because he was listening to decent music. Why stop there? I spent the whole afternoon trying to imagine a legal system where penalties where more lenient if you were listening to good music at the time you commited the crime. Suddenly iPods became even more valuable because every criminal would need to have one. Even though they were more valuable, all of the criminals already had them so they weren’t being stolen anymore. It’s kind of strange how messed up things get and the weird positive consequences that stem from them.
Personal Day – Tour De Ax-Man
by Jon on Apr.03, 2009, under Dreams
It’s above freezing and sunny, who in their right mind would want to sit indoors all day? Not Me! First stop, school. Slip assignments under office doors. Stop numero dos, Caribou large mocha extra shot of espresso, weeeeee. Third, Ax-man in Fridley, yea the one next to the sex shop. Lunch, Gyro from Crescent Moon Afgan bakery. Then on to Ax-Man St. Louis Park! Probably my favorite of the 3, seemed like it had more things that appealed to me, even though they have most of the same crap at all 3 locations. Then finally Ax-Man on University in St.Paul, the biggest, the busiest, and full of the most crap out of the 3 stores.
My loot:
1-pilsner glass with “Jonathan 8-31-08″ on it, $0.45
2-small ball castors $0.35 each
4-magnetic stirrer kabobs $0.25 each
3-plastic knobs $0.50 each
Oh, and crescent moon? The gyro was good, but it was all meat! Delicious meat, but not much else. I’d have to say it’s only my 2nd favorite gyro, Oasis in Iowa City, you win with your hummus, babaganoush, falafel, cucumber, tomato, meat, and red cabbage gyro and a side of tabouleh!
Foosball
by Jon on Jan.09, 2009, under Dreams
I don’t know if this had anything to do with the fact that one of my friends put up a status on facebook relating to foosball, but last night I dreampt of foosball. As pleasant as that might sound to you other foosball lover, it was not. My foosball table had a problem and I needed to fix it. I don’t really know what lead up to this part of the dream or what happened after, all I remember is fixing my foosball table. The problem was with the little score keeping balls
The little metal rod had come out, yes the screws were still tight, but still somehow it came out. I don’t know how it came out it just did, ok. So I had a handful of little plastic balls, except 3 of them were red. Looking at the other end of the table I see that it’s perfectly fine and it has all 4 of its red balls and its 1 black ball. Things are starting to make no sense. In my dreams my actions are perfectly logical, but it seems that to solve a problem like this it’s no going to work. All of a sudden I started shaking the balls in my cupped hands like I was rolling dice, and then I scooped them all into one hand and they all rolled right onto the metal rod. A little twist of the metal rod and it went right back into the end pieces just like one of metal puzzles where you have to get the rings off of something.
